Schedule of Events and Information on Competition Rounds

1. Rounds for Day 1*

  • Data Analysis – Team round
  • Project Round – Teams will prepare a project beforehand for presentation. The title and other details will be emailed at a later date.
  • Observation – This round is only for participants from the Senior Category. It will be an inter-school event, so participating schools will only have to send one telescope regardless of the number of teams sent. Schools are not allowed to use computerized scope. Necessary arrangements will be made if the school is unable to send an approved telescope. Please indicate the telescope to be used in the registration form.

2. Rounds for Day 2*

  • MCQ – Individual Round
  • Finals – There will be final rounds for all three categories, namely, Senior Category, Junior and Newcomer Category.

*Please note that these rounds are subject to changes.

Details of the rounds, and Rules and regulations for the competition will be sent in mid-April via email to the teacher-in-charge and the team leaders.

Astro Challenge 2010 (Requirement)

The following are the entry requirement for the Astrochallenge:
1. Schools are free to send in any number of teams per category.Senior Category
- Includes all Junior Colleges, Polytechnics, and InstitutesJunior Category
- Includes all Secondary Schools
- Schools with Integrated Programme (IP) may also send their students in the Junior Category if the students are 16 years old and below as of 1 Jan 2009Newcomer Category
- Only for secondary schools that have not participated in AstroChallenge for more than 2 times consecutively; these schools are allowed to send students from Secondary 1-2.
- A School in the Junior Category may send ONLY their Secondary 1 students to the Newcomer Category if they wish to.2. Only one team from each school can qualify for finals of the category, i.e. IP schools can have one team in the Junior Category finals and another team in Senior Category finals.

Hello!

About AstroChallenge 2008

AstroChallenge is a highly anticipated annual competition aimed at raising awareness in Astronomy among the students. The competition is open to Secondary school, Junior college and Polytechnic students.

In total, there were 41 teams from 26 schools participating in 3 categories in the competition, the Senior, Junior and Newcomers Category. Students are challenged to think creatively, apply their knowledge about Astronomy and Science, and learn in the process.
